MORE MOTOR VICTIMS. HAMILTON, February 28. A fatal; accident occurred near Te Arolia, on Saturday night, Matthew Thomas Davis, 56, being run over by u car. He was returning from the races and when crossing the road to go to his sister’s house, slipped and was knock ed down by a ear. He was seriously in jured and died a few minutes later. De ceased was a Taupiri resident. AUCKLAND, February 28. Emily Owens, a single woman, 35. died at the hospital from injuries cans ed by being knocked down by a taxi .driven by Thomas L. Grice. A motor car driven by Claude Black was almost completely wrecked at Takapuna last, evening through col lision with a steam, tramcar. It was carried across the full width of Cameron Street, and thrown against an electric power post. A passenger Edwin Hope, of On-ehunga, sustained a fractured col larbone and injury to the forehead. Miss Ethel Black had cuts above tin car. The driver was extensively bruised MELBOURNE, February 27.

An inquest opened at Tokoniaru Bax into the death of A. B. Wheat, Superin li ndi'iil of the Taranaki Oilfields. Evidence showed that deceased s cat was travelling about 50 yards to the seaward side of the usual track, and was overturned at a depression, caused bv the sea wall carrying away, the
car rolling over the retaining wall or to the rocks on the beach below. Whoa was pinned down, one door resting ot his chest and the other on his legs. Hi: companion was also imprisoned beneatl. the car and sustained cuts, bruises and severe shock. The inquest was adjourned. WAIROA, February 28. An accident occurred late on Saturday night near the Frasertown road railway crossing, when, a man, Jack Maloney, pushing his bicycle was knock ed down by a motor cyclist. Maloney sustained a broken leg ami was taken to the hospital. The motor cyclist es caped with abrasions. COLLISION FATALITY. CHRISTCHURCH, February 28. Thomas Gray, a married man, was scriouslv injured in a. motor accident yesterday at the Hospital corner. He died in the hospital last evening. Gray was in a car driven by one Melnnes, which collided with a pole. The driver and another passenger were unhurt, but Gray received injuries to the head from which he died. DEATH UNDER OPERATION. WELLINGTON, February* 28. An inquest was hold Mr. Riddell 1.0-day concerning the death of Harold Isaac Borland, Island Bay, at the Wellington Hospital, while under an operation for the clearing of the air passages, following an attack of diphtheria. The Coroner returned a verdict that death was duo to diptheria toxima. TRAGEDY IN A LONELY WHARE. HASTINGS, February 28. The charred remains of a man were
found in tlie debris of a whare that was burnt down last night at Waimarama. The fire was discovered about ten
o’clock this morning. The body is believed to be that of a man named T. 11. Lamb, aged 60 years, and married, but. living alone in the whare destroyed. Lamb owned a team of bullocks, and was well-known in that district for a considerable number of years. He is supposed to have a son in the Palmerston district. TWO SUICIDES BY HANGING. CHRISTCHURCH, February 28. Thomas George Smith, 50, married was found hanging at St. Alban’s ves terday. TAURANGA, February 28. A married man, Frederick Thomas Dudley, aged 25, was found hanging from a rafter in a stable in town yester day morning with his throat cut.
