When Mr Irwin declared this morn ing that James Hamilton Ramsay (who was befo’re the Court in connexion with a complaint by his wifo that he find sureties for keeping the peace towards per), was assuming a dull, listless altitude, and that he was ‘‘quite spry and alert when away from the Court,” the man in the dock promptly fell prone, apparently in a faint. The Magistrate said that Ramsay l ad been warned not to go naer his wife, but when he left the Court a week ago he had gone to the home and threatened Ker. He should certainly be under some sort of control. The best kind would be in a mental hospital. However, he would be ordered to find a personal surety of £2OO, and two further; sureties (to be approved by his Worship) of £lOO, that he kept the peace towards his wife, the man to be kept tn custody until the sureties were obtained.

The Magistrate also directed that Ramsay be further medically examined by Drs Evans and Ross.
