LABOUR’S OPPONENTS. “SYDNEY, Feb. 24. Air Waddell, president of the Graziers Association, said he was convinced that the Child Endowment Bill would result in widespread unemployment i-i the rural industries, and great loss to the State. The shipping companies trading on the coast have announced that they will be compelled to increase freights if tin Bill becomes law, as they will not be able to meet the increased burden and carry on at a reasonable profit. They, therefore, are compelled to pa>s the additional costs on to the shipP ers ‘ Air Willis gave’ notice in the Legislative Council that he will move today that the Liquor Amendment Bi 1 ! recently defeated by the Council be restored to the business paper. The Government proposes to accept the Legislative Council amendment to the Electoral Amendment Bill, which provides for the aUocation of three ad ditionnl seats to country centres. The agitation has been renewed in Parliamentary Labour and Union circles for additional opportunities of Lal our nom mees, including women, to the Legislative Council. It is felt, however, that the Governor, in view of the fact that the present Government is now in the last year of office, and that twenty-nine Labour appointments have already been made te- the Council by the La.ig Government, will not agree to furtkei appointments.
