FROM CHRISTCHURCH. Excursion to Coast. (Special to Argus. UHRISTCIIURCH, I . : . 22. The West Coasters’ Association her.* held a general meeting this evening, when the excursion, next month to th” Coast was discussed. In the absence the Chairman, Dr. Morkano, the chair was occupied by Mr. G. R. Hunter (Vi<President). A lengthy discussion took place on the excursion io be held on March 2(>th. Tivc Chairman reported favpiu-ably on the results of his rt <-en; visit to the West. (’oast. The Secretary was directed to communicate with Messrs E. I. .Lord (Grey Progress League Organiser), T. Bowes (Rpnanga), and.D. J. Evans (Hokitika/ asking what arrangements can be mad.: to accommodate bowlers, footballers, cricketers and other teams with games, etc., and. what other attraction are pos sible for the visitors. It was stated that Zne fare would bo only 9/6 having at 1.15 a.m., running straight through, and reaching Greymouth before 1 p.m. returning at 7.15 p.m. It was repoiv/i that 209 guarantees hud already been received, and that a big party would make t he- journey. The L.R.C. has unanimously decide I again to nominate Rev. J. K. Archer for the Mayoralty, and after his success in office, his election should be probable. The West Coaster, Mr. G. R. Hunte'*, has been chosen as one of the sixteen Labour candidates for tie* Cliri*tchurch City Council. Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., •has- been appointed organiser for Labour’s civic electoral campaign bv the L.R.C.
