BIGGEE BONUS TO GET OUT. CAFE TOWN, Feb. 21. The terms of the agreement reaeherl at the conference on the Indian question are published The Government abandoned the pro posed Asiatic legislation, which includ ed segregation, but the existing volun tary repatriation scheme was extended The bonus to Indians returning to India was increased to £2O, with £IU for each child under sixteen. The bonus is pay able in India. Free passage is granted to the port of embarkation, and also from the port of landing in India. Hitherto the scheme has been ignored by the Indian Government, but the. agree ment provides its co-operation with the Union Government to the fullest extent to make it a success.
The agreement is regarded as a dip lomatic score for the Indian delegates since the status of Indians is unaltered. While they obtain no addition to existing privileges, there is no curtailment of the existing rights as proposed in the Bill introduced last session.
