JACKSONS NOTES.
After an absence of 53 years, ex police officer Senior Sergeant David Jackson, accompanied by Mrs Jackson has been making a short sojourn at the residences of their relatives, Mr and Mrs Thos. Jackson, Jacksons, Ch. Ch. Road. Mr Jackson joined the police force at the age of thirty years, and by the faithful performance of his duties, attained the position of SeniorSergeant, and he gives an interesting account of the many hardships that were undergone in the days of gold. Prior to their return to Canterbury Mr and Mrs Jackson were the guests of Mrs Aieken, sister of Mrs Jackson, and on their return to their home at Spreydon, they carried with them the best wishes of many West Coast friends for long life and happiness. Mrs Sweetman, accompanied by her granddaughter. Miss Kitty Keating, loft by Thursday’s express en route to Wellington on a visit to relatives. Master Pearce Keating who met with an accident whereby he had his arm broken, is progressing favourably in the Grey Hospital. All here will be pleased to see the genial Pearce return home and wish him a speedy recovery.
Owing to scarcity of orders the saw will of Messrs McDermid and Mather has been closed for several weeks.
