RUNANGA NOTES.
(Our Own Correspondent.) Air. and Mrs Griffiths and daughter, who have been on a holiday visit to Australia, returned by Thursday’s express. Miss A. Higsou, who has been spend ing her summer vacation with her moth er, returned to college on Saturday last On Friday evening a grand concert by Mrs McCauley’s Juvenile Concert Party proved a huge success. The proceeds went in aid of the Bunanga Alum v.ipal Silver Band. The concert opened with an overture by the Band Orchestra, and the programme was as follows song .and chorus “Dolly Town” by Miss D. Donovan and company; song. Master Douglas Galbraith (encored); recitation, Miss Ala vis Bond( encored!. A. Loe dance by Aliss Ella Robertson was a popular item. This little dancer being greatly appreciated by the audience, who insisted on an encore. A duet “House Hunting” by Alisses G. Jligson and Alice Radcliffe caused great applause. Both of these little tots wcr« very original in their acting, and were asked for an encore. Another enjoyable item w r as the song “Nightingale” by Aliss Joyce Steel, who has a sweet little voice, and also rendered an encore. Next came a song .and danca by Aliss Doreen Donovan, “Dancing Girl” and who for an encore gave “Three Green Bonnets” which broughtforth great applause from the audience. The second part opened with an overture by the orchestra, and the song “Valley of Laughter” by Aliss Alice Radcliffe was encored. Next was the duet “To a Miniature” by Alisses Doreen Donovan and Ella Robertson. This act was very gracefully done and judging by the applause, was greatly appreciated by the audience, who demanded an encore. The “Jockey Song and Dance” by Miss Gladys Higson was also encored. The recitation “The Twins” by Alaster Bob Galbraith saw the little chap, with his smiling face captivate the audience, and on being encored, lie gave an equal!ly amusing piece. The “Japanese Song” by Miss T. Bellamy was very prettily sung and was encored. Another dance by Aliss Ella Robertson was well executed. Miss Ella Page and party gave a song, the encore being “Underneath the Mellow Aloon”. A song and chorus by D. Donovan and company “Winter Time’ was the final item. The Mayor, Air. R. AlcTaggart, on behalf of the Runangn Band, heartily thanked Airs McCaule;/ for the able manner in which she had trained the children. They had had (•root* that evening of what could be done with the juveniles. It should b -.’ pointed out that their Band is greatly in need of assistance, and if someone 'would take the children in hand and produce another concert like they had had that evening, it would be a great financial benefit. They were all indebted to Airs AlcCauley and her talented young company, whose entertainment was an excellent one in every respect.
