THRILLS AT NEW PLYMOUTH.

NEW PLYMOUTH, February 19. Thrills aplenty were provided at the New Plymouth motor cycle races on Sat urday, when records fields contcsteo most events, necessitating heats on two occasions. The New Zealand Middleweight Cham pionship was won by 11. Moller for the third time, with W. 11. Herbert second, and R. Ranby third, the ten laps being covered in Bmins., 41 1-5 secs. The final of the Class B event, was won by A. New (Manaia), with A. Harker (Hastings) second and J Hamilton (Stratford) third. The Jockey Club Handicap went to L. C. Curtis (Hamilton) with H. Putt (Otakeho) second and H. V. McCready third.

The Ansford Handicap was wop by W. L. Thorpe (Stratford) with A. Harker second and A. New third. J. R. Arnott (Hawse's Bay) won then New Plymouth Handicap, W. H. Herbert filling second place and S. Morrison (New Plymouth) third.

The West Open Handicap fell to W. 11. Burkett (Wanganui) 11. Putt being second and L. Coulthard (Auckland; third. The Moturoa Class A. Handicap provided a win for IT. Mangham (Wellington), L. Coulthard being second and L. C. Curtis thud. The Consolation Prize fell to Cod Walker (Auckland), J. Hamilton taking second money, A. Lemon (Napier) third and L. Coulthard fourth. P. C. Coleman rode unplaced in several races. MAROUBRA” RACES. SYDNEY, Feb. 20. Motor cycling at Maroubra. the race for the silver helmet, over a course of five miles, resulted: — Eddie Brinck 1. Spencer Stratton 2, C. Chawner 3. Won by half a length. Time 3.56 1-5. All Powers Race. — 11. Trudgeon 1 Spencer Stratton 2, Harry Peel 3. Won by twenty yards. The average speed was eighty four miles per hour.
