REEFTON NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent). There was a large attendance at the St. Stephen’s garden party on Wednesday afternoon and evening, the weather being all that could be desired. The Inangahua Silver Band was in attendance, and the grounds were gaily decorated with flags and lanterns, which gave a very pretty effect, particularly in the moonlight. Good business was done by the stall-holders, and the side shows also were well patronised. An excellent concert programme was rendered, the items being as follows:— “Wedding in Fairyland,” “Araby,” and “Red Riding Hood,” by the children, in which Alisses Otana Bierwirth, Watson and Jean Chamberlain gave a good rendering; “Keys of Heaven,” by Alisses Watson and Mcllendry; “The Kentucky Way of Saying Good-bye,” by the boys; pianoforte duet by Aliss and M aster White. Songs were also given by Messrs R. Wallace and L. Harrie, and two recitations by Air EasThe following wire has been received from the Hon. R. F. Bollard (Minister of Internal Affairs): — “Appreciate kind invitation of Agricultural and Pastoral Association to Their Royal Highnesses to pay a visit to Show held on day they pass through Reef ton, but regret that, as programme has now been finalised, and is in the hands of His Royal Highness at Suva for approval, their stay at Reefton cannot be lengthened.

The following scores were registered at the rifle meeting for boys under 17:— C. AlcCawe 109 (10/-), Ist; V. Rollerson 108 (7/-), 2nd; W. Davis 107 (5/-), 3rd; If. Kearns 106 (4/-) 4th; R. White, E. Baird, J. AlcKane, L. If Reid, 1/6 each; Roy Cairns, W. Butcher. A. King, J. Williams, J. 11. Blackmore. 11. AlcAlahon 2/- each. Twelve others won prizes of one shilling each. Fortv boys competed. At the .303 meeting, J. 11. Crossman was first with a score of 68 (10/-), 11. C. Werry 67 (7/6) 2nd> and three others won prizes of 2/6 each.
