Sentences of imprisonment were imposed at Murchison by Air. Alaunsell. S.AL, upon four young men for starring and feathering a man named Andrew Simpson on December 10th. last. The volubly condemned the action taken. Two school boys and Miss G. McCracken gave evidence, also Dr. Comrie, and a constable. Andrew AleDowell and Joseph Schofield were sentenced to six weeks in Greymouth gaol, and Wm. J. Ford ami Harry Lester to .7 month at Nelson gaol.

The Westland Power Board held a meeting in committee on Thursday (states the Hokitika Guardian) Air. AV. Butler presiding, to deal with various matters and proposals with regard to the details of the proposed purchase of the Kumara water races. It was also agreed to permit Kanieri Electric Ltd., to supply electrical energy to a rcsi'dent at South Hokitika.
