EMPLOYERS SEEK TO DISCOUNT IT. SYDNEY, February 17. Employers are seriously concerned over the prospect of the large increase in the wages bill, when the Child Endowment Bill becomes law, and state that they may apply to the Arbitration Court for a variation of Federal awards, to reduce wages by fifteen shillings weekly. It is held that without some such relief, many businesses which are just holding their own, or earning a small return on capital invested, will be forced to close, resulting in a large increase in unemployed. BILL PASSES POPULAR CHAMBER. SYDNEY. February 17. The Child Endowment Pill was today read the third time in the New South Wales Assembly by 41 votes to 31.
