ANNUAL MEETING. yesterday’ 7 s~proceedings. WELLINGTON. Feb. 17. Mills (Feilding Star), Mrs Page (Hawera- Star), W. J. Blundell (Evening Post, Wellington). The annual report made reference to the deaths of Sir Henry Brett, Mr F. Pirani, and Mr E. E. Copping, and Hon. W. J. Geddes, the two former of whom had been Chairmen and Directors of the Association. It also alluded to the passing of the “N.Z. Times,’’ a very old subscriber to the Association. During the year, 904,308 original words of cable news had been supplied to the newspapers, and a new contract had been made with the cable associations of Australia for two years, with the option of two more. One of the features of the year was a large increase in the number of evening papers publishing late Saturday editions. Arrangements were in hand for reporting the tour of the N.Z. Cricket team, which would involve a. fairly substantial extra outlay. The principal feature of the present year would probably be the Royal tour, as was the case when the Prince of Wales visited the Dominion. The Royal Party would be accompanied by representatives of the Association. The Chairman had presented one, and the Association five trees for Canbe v '“ Avenue in the Australian Feder?’ '>pital.

The Chairman delivered an exhaustive address on the work of the year, which had been more laborious than usual on account of the heavy labour involved in several special directions, particularly in negotiations for the renewal of cable agreements and the preparation and issue of new agreements with individual subscribers.

The report and balance sheet were adopted. Mr L. P. Blundell, retiring director, was re-elected.

Mr G. M. Burns, the other retiring director, did not offer himself again. Mr A. G. Henderson, of the Lyttelton Tinies, was elected in his place.

Wellington was chosen as the next place of meeting. At a subsequent meeting of the directors, Mr Leys (Auckland Star) was elected Chairman of Directors for the ensuing year.
