ACCOUNTANTY TUITION. WELLINGTON, February 17. A request that Hie accountancy Masses at Wellington Technical College should be placed on a better footing was made to Hon. Mr Wright today by a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce, and Secretary of the Accountants’, Insurance, Shipping and Bankers’ Guilds. It was stated that for some reason, there was no Chair of Commerce at Wellington College, and the Technical School, therefore, was called on to do the work of providing commercial training. Good tutors were essential to this end and higher fees should therefore be charged. An increased grant from the Department to the school was also asked. Mr Wright agreed the charges were too low. He was glad to hear the Chamber of Commerce was prepared to assist financially. He would go carefully into the whole matter. DROWNINGS. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 17. The body of Taiaroa Wetere, one ol the two boys drowned on Sunday afternoon while bathing on the beach near Awakino, was found yesterday afternoon in the Awakino River, about a mile from the mouth, apparently carried thither by the tide. CYCLIST ACCIDENT. BLENHEIM, February 17. Harry Barratt, aged 18, riding a motor cycle, collided with a motor lorry proceeding along Matuwell Road. When the lorry pulled up, the front wheel had to be jacked up to release the youth, whose left leg was pinned to the road. He was removed to th" Wairau Hospital, and underwent an operation for severe injuries to the leg. BEACH MYSTERY. WELLINGTON, February 17. A party spearing flounders on the Petone beach last night, came upon the body of a dead man, fully clothed, in an advanced stage of decomposition. The police were notified, ami the body taken to the morgue. Deceased was well built, sft Gin, and between 50 ami 60. He had a slate grey suit, a fawn shirt, no collar or tie, black boots and socks. There were no marks on the body by which he could lie identified. Suicide is suggested by a stone around his nock.
