The census returns for Wellington and districts show tfiat the city proper fias gained 571*2 in population since 1906, while Wellington and sub urbs not including Petone and Hutt ana adjacent districts have gained 8066. ' , Detailed figures with "comparison of fliose declared after the census of IW)6 are as follows: —
j.. will be seen that there is an apparent decrease in the population of Onslow and Karori. The explanation is that portions of these &©?• oughs have been included in the city since 1906. Makara County and Upper Hut* town district did not exist in 1906. ; The increase in Wellington and suburbs has averaged over 1200 per ytar. PALMERSTON N., April 26. Census returns for ■■ Palmerston North Borough show, population 10.---985 against 10,237 at last census, or an increase of 748.
