DUNEDIN, April 25.

A' restricted railway service for the economical working of goods traffic thTougrhout New Zealand will be introduced -on May 6th. Instead of goods being forwarded to the smaller stations every day they will have a service two or three times according to the quantity sent. There are ninety-seven stations served from Dunedin to which' the restricted service will, apply. A similar system has been in operation in several of • the Australian States for some years and has been found to work satisfactorily and at the same time effect a very considerable saving, in the cost of the working of the railways.
