PUBLIC NOTICES. UOROUGH ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH OF . OREYMOUTH. Ladies and Gentlemen. — TTAVING acceeded to the numer-J-J. ous requests I have received, both verbally and in writing, to again stand for a seat on the Borough Council, I desire to state that it was contrary to my wish to again contest the seat. But seeing that I am at the present time a party to an action in regard to the rights of the Councillors to be heard at the Council table and not be prevented from expressing their opinion freely and openly, I deem it my duty to see the matter .out. As this may involve eva siderable discussion in future 1, havln^ \ a^P n the initiative steps towards upholding- freedom of speech to the people s representatives, am theretore desirious of supporting my own action and if you do me the lioiicui to again elect me to a seat on the Council, I shall do my duty as I' have already attempted, and I believe successfully, to uphold the rig-ht against wrongs which have existed h ; ;L erto. - I will not venture to direct attention to what public duties i have performed except to say that in my two years career now ended, 1 have always been at my post and have done what I could to set our municipal government . in g-ood order. That there is much more to do is at once apparent and the newly elected Council will have responsibilities "irown on them which they cannot shirk. Therefore a few experienced councillors will prove oP more value at this juncture than an entirely new Council. THanking- you, in anticipation, for your support, beg to subscribe myYour most obedient Servant, JAMES P. BIERNE.
