Freedom of the City of Belfast, recalled the fact that when twenty three years of age he and the late Sir Edward Harland proposed to start a shipbuilding yard in Liverpool. The Harbour ;iufiioriiics replied that he was too young to start such an undertaking. Ho accordingly moved to Belfast where he is now employing fourteen thousand people.
