TIMARU NOTES
I (By Telegraph — Per Press Association) TIMARU, April 21 The census return for the borougfi show a total population of 11,311, an increase of 3696 on last census, but the area has been much enlarged in the meantime. Rev W. Baumber who has been unwell for a long- time, underwent a serious operation' to-day" and is now doing well. Welcome- rain has fallen' and has not «yet ceased. Meetings have been held in several centres to prepare ' a reception and meetings for the Irish envoys. For the triple polls in Timaru on Wednesday all ballot boxes in town were obtained and 30 had to be borrowed from neighbouring- districts.
