Uo lcicijiapu— I cr .pie'bb Association) UIRLyiCHUkCiJ, April 21 lhe Trades Council this morning passed a large number of remits virI tualiy without discussion, including an approval of a State ferry service, certification of moior drivers, registration of land agents, reparation of the days of the general election "and the local option poll, State supervision of accommodation for bushmen, aDolition of private registry offices, registration of plumbers and appoint ment of public defenders as well as Crown Prosecutors. The 'Conference declared in ia.vour of free secular compulsory education and condemned the efforts to introduce the BiMe in schools, or to obtain denominational grants. It was decided to urge Parliament to impose an export duty of 3d a pound on hides, skins and greasy wool. It was agreed" to hold the next conference at Wellington. CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. The Trades and Labor Conference concluded to-day, when the order paper was cleared. Amongst remits agreed to were those urging the Government to provide a State ferry between North and South Islands, and State-owned colliers, and the abolishing of all pri" vate registry offices. The next conference wiil be held in Wellington, the Canterbury Trades and Labor Council being appointed the executive fo rthe year.
