Replying to a deputation from Womcns' Societies protesting against the Secretary for Home Affairs proposed order to permit dressmakers to extend working hours during May and June, in view of the Coronation, Mr Masterman stated that the Queen had made special arrangements to prevent overtime in the making- of her dresses. v

Mr Masterman wished that everyone was similarly considerate, and promised to reconsider the order.
