The opening day of the Westland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting pass p-d off successfully in fine weather. There was a fine attendance. The lote put through £6380.
Results :—
Open Handicap, of 25 spvs, 7 furDivorce (9.4) 1, Hillspring (8.11) 2, Pure Rose (8.1) 3. Also started — Obligate (8.4), Wairarapa (6.7) The
Orient (6.7)
Divorce was first to show in font, and managed to pa^s the post" Half a length to the good fronv Hillspring who made a strong run in Ibe straight, the third horse being riose
Time 1.32 2-5.
Tradesmen's, Handicap, 35 soys, 5A furlongs— lto . (9.7 1, Surmount (9.0) 2. Montague (8.0) 3. Also sra^'d— Rurifc (10.13), Moata (8.2), Expansion (7.10) Glenrock. (7.3) • and Supplement (7.1).
Supplement g-ot the best of the start but was caught by Ito before coming into the straight, the h.tter winning easily, the others finishing in straggling order. Time 1.12 2-5.
Introductory Handicap Trot die) 30 soys, 1 mile — Andante C^ec) 1, Mount Camelback (18sec) 2, Convent Bell (Bsec)-3. Seventeen others started.
Mount Camelb'ack led *or nemly the whole distance but was caught by Andante who trotted consistently throughout. . Andante won wiih a little to spare. Time 2.51.
Autumn • Handicap. 60 soys, 1 mile— King Try (8.10) 1, Waiwareware (8.6) 2, Gold Braid (8.8) 3. Also started— Aberration (9.4) The Cornet' (8.91 First View (7.8) and Wairarapa (7.0.)
King Try went away with the lead and won easily by three lengths. Gold Braid was a neck, away from the second horse. Time 1.45 2-5.
Borough Handicap Trb't, of ' ?•- sovs, 1| miles — Maimot (I7secs) 1, Chips (12secs) 2, Convent Bell (11) o. 8 others started.
Maimot trotted well throughout and won easily. Time 4.11.
High Weight Handicat, 40 soys, 6.J furlongs — North Pole (10.6) 1, Divorce (9.12) 2, Negative (9.10) 3. Also started: Waiwareware (9.12), hillspring (9.10). Katua (8.12).
A splendid race.. Negative and Divorce were leading from North I'ole when half the distance had been covered, but North' Pole! came with tast run in the straight and won by half a length, the others close up. Time 1.24 4-5.
'Railway Handicap, 40 soys, 5 fur — ito (9.13) 1, Yeodel (8.0) 2, Expansion (7.12) 3, Also started — Miss ayivia (9.4) Surmount (9.0), Balmy m-eeze. (8.6) Laiglon ' (7.12) Jenny colleen flMO) Millionaire (7.2).
Jto was the first to show in front out was soon afterwards overhauled Dy Yeodel and Miss Sylvia. Ito, however, came with a brilliant run in the straight and won by a length, Uie others finishing in a straggling uishion Time 1.4 1-5..
