LABOUR CONFERENCE ■■ ■ : -. ; - AN ANGLO-GERMAN AGREEMENT. (By Electric. Telegraph— Copyr-'Kh:.) , (Red 11.30 p.m,) ..-;. LONDON, April 18. ■ At the independent labour conference, at Birmingham, W. Anderson in a presidential address said that Grey's speech was like a ray of light heralding a new dawn. There was more need of an Anglo-German agreement than ever. The present Government had ibeen influenced by scares, and' grossly imaginative estimates of Germany's shipbulding. ' The most untutored jingo could not have outstripped Mr McKenna. There was an animated discussion on the suggestion of. instructing labour members in the House of. Commons to vote on every subject, re-gardless-of consequences to Ministry. •Many Warned the party for not supporting Keir-Hardie's nrotest regarding the Cambrian strike. Mr McDonald explained that he was afraid that to censure Mr Churchill would endanger the Government. The debate was -adjourned.
