Bates (Government Meteorologist) wired at noon yesterday as follows: — "ESxpect moderate south-easterly winds veering to easterly, weather probably cool and changeable, probably cool and changeable, probably a very cold night; glass little movement, but glass fall after 16 hours and expect low pressure, due on or about Friday; tides poor and sea moderate. "- Tae local weather .report yesterday was — Wind, south-east breeze; barometer, 3005; thermometer, <55 degrees ; tides moderate ; bar moderate.
