The Ohakune Times stated that a number of 'business men in that town are considering a proposition to run an electric tram service between Ohakune East and Raetihi, and also an electric lighting scheme. An expert has been invited to report" on the project. An old Maori, who was present at the recent Maori gathering at Papnwai, stated that fully 25 per cent, of the Maories who attended the gathering were suffering from asthma or other pulmonary complaints. Woodville was recently visited by a dense cloud of small flies. There are some complaints in trading circles, says the New Zealand Trade Be view, that money is becoming less plentiful, but we believe there is still a good supply of capital available, and sound investment sharf es have .been rather more sought after as an outlet for this, consequently such share., are commanding .good prices. The plates for the new Government steamer for Lake Wakatipu are now on their way out from. Home, and are expected to arrive at Port Chalmers in a fortnight. In the meantime the contractors (Messrs John McGregor and "C 0.,), are constructing the machinery.
