Splendid weather prevailed for the , opening of the Kumara Autumn Race : Meeting.. There was a large attendance and splendid racing. £4,062, a record for Kumara, passed 'through the tote. The results are as follow:
Trial stakes, 6 furlongs. — Obligate, 7.13, 1; Hillsprinfi, .9.2, 2; Katua, 8.1, 3. Also staTted: 'Pure Rose, Overhoard, Blessbok, Lady Shannon. Time 1.20 1-5.
Flying Handicap. 5 .furlongs^—Surmount, 8.11, 1; Mangrove, 7.5, 2; Millionaire, 6.10. 3. Also started : Montague and Hereward. . Time 1.5 2-5.. •
Trotting Handicap, one mile. — Manola, 18secs., 1; Toaroha, 26secs., 2; Prudish, 22secs., 3. Twenty-five others started. Time ,2.39 3-5.
Kumara Handicap, 9 furlongs. — Shannon Lass, 7.11, 1 : Aberration, 9.5, 2 ; King, Try, 8.3. 3 ; Pure Rose also started. ' Time' 2.2 1-5.
