A NEW ANAESTHETIC
liNjiiCTlON OF LUKEWARM WATER. Great interest is being taken by surgeons in the success which has at" tended the use of lukewarm .water as au anaesthetic in operations in Johns iioplcins Hospital, in Baltimore. A statement was issued from that institution to the effect that water has been found efficacious as an anaesthetic, while it is without the 'depressing eiiect of a drug. All that is necessary, according to the official statement, is to inject lukewarm water in sufficient quantities under the sicm in/the vicinity of the part operated on. ( While the operation is in progress the patient feels no pain, though he is fully conscious. Warning is given that the new method should not be attempted without .spec-:-.! study by the surgeon.
