SETTLER DROWNED

—^ (By Telegraph — Per Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 10. A man named Arthur Ryan, a settler, was drowned while bathing at Lukes Beach, Tamaki River, near Otahuhu yesterday afternoon. Ryan who is about 50 years of age, was staying- with his wife at the residence of Dr Rowley, his brother-in-law. At three o'clock in the afternoon he "set out for a bathe. As he did not return when expected ,the relatives became anxious, instituting a search. They* discovered his clothes in a batning hut. At seven o'clock in the evening the facts were reported to the police. After further search Ryan's body was found two hours later on the beach, the tide having receded. Deceased was known to he a good swimmer. It is surmised that his death resulted through cramp.- . •• • . .
