FLOUR BLEACHING.
(By Electric Telegraph — Copyright.) * ('Reed 10 p.m.) LONDON, April 7. The loyal Government Board reports upon bleaching flour. It must be regarded with considerable apprehension, as nitrogen peroxide enables the miller to transform! cheaper wheats into a whiter higher-priced article, often saving sixpence and a shilling- a sack by the use of a flour improver, often containing fifty per centum of calcium sulphate and an appreciable amount of arsenic, an equally undesirable addition. Powerful chemicals such as hydrofluoric acid, phosphorus, pentachloride and oxides and sulphides of phosphorus were most dangerous.
