-j BLiACKWiATER STRIKES A REEF.. PROSPECTING BUSY IN REEFTON. (By Telegraph — Per Pit?* Association) [REEFTON, April 7. The "Inangahua Times" reports 'that tßlackwater South Gold .Mining Company, who are driving a 400 ft. tunnel, struck, a gold reef, 3ft. wide, and gold bearing- ait 143 ft, .It is supposed this is a continuation of the Birthday Reef," on which the Blackwater mine Is 'based. The mine is held by a 'Christchurch company. With local owners special attention is now being paid to re-opening Kirwan's 'Reward in tnis district. Several 'partes have 'taken out a number of areas, and vigorous prospecting is being resorted to. The new (find in the Merijig-s district caused a number of claims to be applied for at (the last Warden's Court. Mining", in faot, as for as prospecting goes, is very brisk jus^ noiv.
