The. brigantine Adieu, from Melbourne, arrived in the roadstead yesterday, and will : probably be towed in to-day, as also the Sarah and Mary, which has been in the offing the last few days. , The s.s. Waipara sailed from Hokitika on Saturday afternoon for Okura and Jackson's' Bay. We (Bfawke's Bay Herald, November 5), . regret ,to hear that serious doubts are en-" tertained for the safety of the Three Brothers, which left here on the 6th October for Mer- . cury Bay, and was heard of the following day near Waiapu. Up to yesterday she had not; reached her destination, a telegraphic message from Tokotea having been received to that effect.. She was owned by Mr Vautier, and was insured in the New Zealand 1 Insurance Company for LISOO, and reinsured for LSOO of that amount in the Victoria. The master, Captain Blair, and the mate, we understand, are married men with fa • ilies in Sydney. I here were also three or, four Bailors on board. . It is to be hoped that no lives have been lost, but grave apprehensions are entertained as to the safety of vessel, captain, crew, &c.
