A., which was in the ; Glasgow Exhibition of 1874. : This Painting was exhibited in the Fine Art Institute of Glasgow last year, and it may suffice with reference to its excellence to quote from the notice of the Exhibition in one of the local newspapers: — "This is a charming picture, and very characteristic. of the painter. He is par excellence the painter of children. What could be more beautiful than the archness and simplicity of the girl looking up and out of the picture ? Could anything be more complete than the composition and pose of the picture ? The forms are delicate, the expression refined, and the arrangement effective and simple." The Original Painting,' the " Gleaners," will form the First Prize and the other Prizes will consist of — Sums set apart for the purchase of Paintings or Sculpture, each Prizeholder having the right to select the.W.ork!of-Arfcto;form his Prize from any Public Exhibition ;' and " Paintings, Engravings, and other Works of Art, as Minor Prizes, selected by the Committee.
