The whole subscriptions, after deducting the necessary expenses, are devoted to the purchase of Paintings, Drawings, Sculptures, Engravings, and other Works of Art ; each member being entitled to the Presentation Work for the year of Subscription, and a share in the Annual Ballot of Prizes. Any member having paid his ordinary Sub--1 scription for the current year, and wishing L to have additional Shares in the Ballot for Prizes -but without another Copy of the 1 Presentation \V ork— may have one additional ' Share for every Half-Guinea subscribed, for . which a separate printed receipt^ will be ' given. This Painting was exhibited in the Fine Art Institute of Glasgow last year, and it may suffice with reference to its excellence to quote from the notice of the Exhibition in one of the local newspapers: — "This is a charming picture, and very characteristic of ■ the painter. He is par excellence the painter of children. What could be more beautiful ' than the archness and simplicity of the girl looking up and out of the picture ? Could - anything be more complete than the composition and pose of the picture ? The forms are delicate, the expression refined, and the arrangement effective and simple." The Original Painting, the " Gleaners," will form the First Prize and the Mother Prizes will consist'of- 1 - ...
