.- In, the Legislative Council the following ,-; motions were carried : — Dr Pollen moved for leave to bring in , a. Bill en titled "an Act to provide that apprentices may be found, taught, and . instructed in certain arts and trades connected with the service of the Government .....;; . , r.V^l&..Bu^seU:*' ; moveii;.that.it*be an instruction in* the; Te Aute: College estate, Committee also to inquire, into and report - oii . the past administration and present* position of the following educational trusts, namely : — Porirua School, Otaki School, Motueka School. Considerable discussion arose on the potion ' by Dr Pollen to^.read the Piako f Exchange Bill a second "time. He gave an explanation of its provisions and the circumstances which made legislation necessary.: The land now belonging to Thomas Russellwas originally granted to Willis, and the survey encroached on land granted to another claimant, but a title was procured for Russell under the Land Transfer! - ... Mr Waterhouse moved that the Bill be read that day six mbuths. He contended that the title must have been obtained by fraud^"":; '.;.;'-,:,,;' ' .:.,• ' ;, ■ : The Bjll .wasjlirown out. .
