Prince Leopold slowly improves in health. The Queen expressed great affliction at the death of Sir Arthur Helps, her " true and devoted friend." The Prince Imperial is likely to attach himself to the Fifth Royal Irish Lancers, to undergo a course of practical military instruction. The Union University of America has offered the Honorary Chancellorship to Mr Gladstone, which was declined, from his inability to cross the Atlantic to deliver an address. A Buddhist priest has been convicted at Candy of wilful murder, and sentenced to death.
