Dispatch ran out to sea yesterday morning, and in one trip brought to the wharf the schooner Wild Duck, from the Waitara, in ballast, and the Garibaldi, schooner, from Nelson, with the remainder of her cargo consisting of a few tons of bran Our old friend the schooner Garibaldi has once more' arrived in port, so. that we may lookforiat least a fortnight's bad weather. She has the reputation at this port of being a Stormy Petrel, but we hope that on the present occasion the common proverb will not prove true. -~ — — The s.s. Albion is now overdue from Melbourne. On arrival she takes passengers for Nelson, all other New Zealand ports, and Melbourne via the Bluff. The schooner Merlin arrived in the Taranaki roadstead on the 24th ult. at 10.30 p.m. Captain T. Ellis reports being towed out of v Greymouth at 7 am. on the 19th, with light easterly breeze; same night wind shifted to N.W., and blew hard; at 5 a.m. on the 20th, wind wentround.in hard squall to the S. W. and blew a perfect gale, in which the starboard bulwarks were washed .away, and the fore, gaff broken. .. Hove to at 9 a.m. on the 21st, and remained so till the 22nd, Wind showed no sign of taking off, so stood away to' the southward ; wind moderated on Tuesday, and again phaped a course for the roadstead, arriving as above. —Budget. The Durham, on her late run from London to Melbourne, did not put in at the Cape as the St. Osyth did, but made the passage out direct in 48 days 12 hours. She averaged 261 knots a day, ■or nearly 11 knots per hour, her best day's work being 320 and the least 174 miles. J?he Great Britain was 63 days on the. passage, having met with bad weather the first five days out, during which time she only logged 400 miles.
