The office of Deputy- Registrar to th« j Supreme Court and Registrar of Births, Marriages, and Deaths, vacated by the appointment of Mr Hammerton to the post of Secretary of Stamps have been conferred upon fl. C Willmer, for some years secretary to Mr Justice Johnson. Auckland, Feb. 27. In reply to a deputation, Dr Pollen stated there was no chance of the General Government making any grant in aid of the family of the late Superintendent. A public meeting is convened for Tuesday to start a subscription. The Ohinemuri Goldfields Regulations are completed, and will be gazetted on on Wednesda y next, and the field will be proclaimed at the same time. Dr Pollen and Sir Donald M'Lean will probably proceed Bouth in the Luna tomorrow. The Goldfields powers will probably be delegated to Mackay on Dr Pollen's arrival in Wellington. CHBiSTommcH, Feb. 27. At a special meeting of the City Council Council this morning, twelve cabmen applied for licences. The applicants did n ot ask for any alteration in the scale of ares about which the row has been. The consideration of the applications was adjourned. Hops are being successfully cultivated here.
