The business in the Provincial Council on Wednesday was not of much importance, although it is apparent that a great deal of time was wasted in profitless discussion. The report of the Committee on the petition of the inhabitants of Maori Creek, praying that the lands in the township should be sold, recommended that the object of the petition be complied with. In Committee on the Estimates, a " long desultory discussion" — as the "West Coast Times" terms it — took plac« upon the item " Warden at Greymouth, J500," and a reduction of £50 was moved by Mr Guinness, but lost, with the yt« w of adding that sum to the salary of 'lie Warden at Okarito. The Ferries 8.1 was read a third time and passed, and the Fencing Bill went through Committee .Papers relating to the Jackson's Bay Settlement were laid upon the table, which we hope will be printed. t
