A deputation waited upon the Superintendent to-day, and submitted reasons for the construction of the Outram branch line by way of Mosgiel. His Honor promised that a survey of the line would be made, with a view of asking the Provincial Council next session to consent to its construction. He also observed that the settlers should be prepared to give free land along which the line will have to be carried. Wellington, Nov. 16 His Excellency the Governor was entertained at a farewell dinner by the members of the Wellington Club on Saturday evening. Sir George Arney and the Puisne Judges were present as guests. The "New Zealand Times" again ' strongly condemns the sale of the Foreshore by the Provincial Government. Christchurch:, Nov. 16. At the sale of racing stock on S aturday Ngaro was bought by R. Farmer, of Hawke's Bay, for 500 guineas ; Titoko, to the same purchaser, 100 guineas, afterwards sold privately to Mr Prince, bookmaker, for 150 guineas. Tadnior was sold to Cotton, of Dunedin, for 150 guineas. 300 guineas bid for Wainui was refused, and 100 guineas for Rangi was also refused. The monies paid over to the winners at the late racei by the Jockey Club were as follows: — O'Brien, L 577; Delemain, L 199; P. Campbell. L 28 1; Redwood, Ll5O 153 ; Hedge, L 95 ; Barber, L 74 ; W. Walters, L7O ; M'Kicnon, L 4 7; Lunn, L2OO. T#enty-six entries have been received for the Derby for 1875. The selling price of Tadmor was 25 guineas, not 150, as stated. De Bourbel reports the Bhare market as follows : — National Insurance, buyers, 275, sellers 28s ; National Bank, b, 68? s, 62s ; Standard Insurance, b, 83, s 10s ; Colonial Bank, b, lls, s, 12s ; South British, b. 48|a, s, 4(K DrjN-EDiN-, Nov. 17. • Captain Wales has no intention of takinsr part in the prize firing this year. Boxhead, of No. 1 Company, made 91 points in the first set. Westport, Nov. 19. Arrived — Sarah and Mary, from Lyttelton. Napier, Nov. 16. The Rosarie sailed this morning for Dunedin in charge of Captain Veal, Capt. Crabbe also proceeds in her — several of the crew were taken out of gaol and put on board in irons. The cook and steward have taken their discharge, and forfeit LSO rather than go in the vessel.
