Our telegrams inform us that Mr Vogel's mission to Sydney upon the subject of establishing telegraphic communication between this Colony and New South Wales has been so far successful that an understanding has been arrived at between New Zealand, New South Wales, and Queensland, and that the two latter have agreed to send Commissioners to act with Mr Yogel in London. The arrange ment appears to be a tripartite agreement for establishing two cable lines, one from Brisbane to Singapore via Batavia, and one from Sydney to New Zealand. It is understood that already preliminary arrangements have been ent«red into with the celebrated telegraph cable firm in London, Messrs Siemens Bros., and it is probable that a contract will be entered into with this firm for the supply of the light cables, which recent experiments have, proved to be muon leas costly and equally as efficient as those now ordinarily used. Should Mr Yogel and his colleagues be successful in negotiating the contract, it may be expected that within eighteen months New Zealand will be in direct telegraphic communication with all the civilised parts of the world. ;
