BOSS MINING NEWS.

The "Guardian" of Saturday says : — "The week has been a very boisterous one, and the weather has greatly impeded mining operations, a good deal of time having been lost. Up Jones' Creek there are four parties, who are all employed sluicing, and getting fair returns. M*Murtrie and party are stripping a very large paddock. Donoghue and party washed up last week. — On Jones' Flat, Peter J<ripston and party are box sluicing. Tray are stripping shallow ground, which will be finished in about a week, when they intend commencing at another portion of their claim, where the wash will run to a depth at about 40ft. The claim _pays steady dividends. Hunter and party are down 52ft, and are cutting a road to reach some old ground on the terrace. On Thursday the Scotia Wheel party were laying down a fresh tramway. The face is now assuming large dimensions, being 35ft deep by 50ft wide. The wash is gradually improving, and last week the dividend was the biggest that has yet been paid. An accident happened at the Tribnne claim on Thursday, when pulling up a truck full of dirt, it slipped, and went back to the paddock full tilt. The sudden jerk broke two cogwheels, and one of the cogs on the spurwheel. Evans and party are working their claim on the incline principle ; but are using a whim instead of a waterwheel. The face is about 30ft deep. There are four shareholders and the claim is paying well. The Old Whim Wheel party are putting through a great lot of dirt, and the returns are said to be as good, if not better, than any claim on the Flat. Candy and party have taken up a sluiciiig claim, in some ground adjoining Evans and party, and are opening out a face. Hoskins and party were washing up yesterday, but do not expect to finish till this afternoon.
