Christchurch. — With regard to the condition of the Christchurch cattle market, the "Ljttelton Times" of Saturday last reports : — At the yards, on Wednesday, the supply of sheep was limited in number, but the quality was, as usual, good. Best long woolled wethers made 21s and merinos 15s, and other qualities in proportion. Our quotation remains at3£d per lb, and we do not anticipate any advance this season. There is a fair demand for store sheep, and good prices are given, which is a proof that feed is plentiful. JFor a lot of inferior store wethers 8s 6d was paid; and the same price for a lot of merino ewes in lamb to Leicester rams. The number of cattle brought forward was small, and consisted entirely of stores, which brought high rates. Fat cattle are extremely scarce, in fact they can scarcely be got, and it is difficult to say what the trade would give for really prime beef. Our quotations, to some extent, must be nominal, as we have no proper basis to go upon, but we state it •t 308 w Bft per 1002b t aocording toyualtyv.
