THE GREENSTONE RUSH.

; [COEBESPONDBNT EEGISTEE, JULY 31.] Since my last I have had very pleasing intelligence— and, what is more, reliable as well— about the state of affairs at the new rush. The news goes to prove, more satisfactorily than ever, that the rush is a decided success, as far as its paying quality is concerned. • Biggs's party have, this evening, washed about half a load, taken from the heap they had pushed to one side as wash-dirt, and they got the very handsome prospect of 3dwt of gold weighed. The depth of dirt saved was 12ft. If this should continue oi the same thickness and quality, it would take a great while to work out . their claim, which is 75ft by ,75ft per man, and would materially add to the export of the metal from the Province. This rush will pr&ve a great boon to many who have found it very difficult to make a living, and who have been working on the different public works. It will also help to stay the exodus of the bone arid' sinew of the Province |to other, and perhaps no better countries, since it promises to extend more than a mile along the terrace ; in fact, the ground is now taken up for fully two-thirds of that distance, and there are upwards of 200 men at work on it.
