Christchurch.— The Pres4 J of Saturday last reports : ■ The grain' ■ market has } been ia a state of stagnation during the whole. of the week, owing to the rough and boisterous weather. Flour remains stationery at Lll 10s per ton in bakers' parcels for 2001 b bags, and Ll2 in 1001 b bags. 1 No sales are noted in wheat,
and in the absence of transactions, quotations stand the same as last week, at 4s 6d in Christohurch. The weak state of the English market and the decline in the Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney markets, will no doubt keep values depressed here. Oats are scarce, and farmers are wanting to buy feed and seed, so that we do not look for lower rates.,. Prime samples are steady at 4s 3d. Barley is quite neglected and no sales are reported. Hams and bacon meet a steady demand at B^d for bare, and 9d in cloth. Butter is quoted at Is Id per lb. Cheese also is firm at 6d to 6£d. Potatoes are in good request at L 3 15s. Business in the import markets has been dull during the past month, owing in a great measure to the severe weather experienced.
