Nelson, May 12. ( In the Council last night Mr Corbett asked the Government whether the Wardens of the Gold-fields have any control over the public works. The Provincial Secretary replied, that in the absence of the Engineer, Wardens were occasionally asked to undertake that control. The Road Boards further will taiie charge in the absence of the Engineer. ' Mr Gibbs moved for the Amendment of the Representation of the Province. 4 committee was appointed by ballot to report. Mr Ivess moved for the expenditure of LISOO for the construction of the road from Gorge Town to Boatman's Creek on deferred payment system.
