It is rumored that the Government are disposed to adopt liberal measures with regard to the Maori leases in Greymouth, and that an extention to 66 years will be accorded to those holding original leases. This will not, however, be satisfactory to the sub-lessees, and it is to be hoped that after the termination of the Supreme Court sittings, which detain some of the most eligible of the proposed delegates to Wellington, are over, the Maori Lease Sub-committee of the Progress Committee, which was authorised at a late public meeting to appoint the delegates, will take prompt action.
