By auction a small parcel was sold at 6s 4d to 6s 7d for common to fair, while 1 6s 8d was offered and refused for a line of 400 bags. Oats aye improving in value, and higher rates can be obtained for any parcels put on the market. Some 400 bags were got rid of in the forenoon at 5s 2d to 5s 44d for fine feeding. At the same time,, 4oo bags Cape barley realised 4s 7d to 4s 9£d, while malting was placed at 6s Id to 6s 44d, though not of very prime quality. Of maize there is no stock ; we quote 6s 7d to 6s 9d. Flowers of sulphur, neglected for many months and. quoted at a mere nominal figure, have met with attention, though business has opened at a rather low figure. A parcel of 20 tons has changed hands at Lll 15s. Candles still command considerable notice, the number of buyers having increased, and prices are , steadily improving. We hear of a line of 500 boxes of Brandon r having been taken up at ll|d, while 1400 boxes Goudas have also changed hands at Hid. Devoe's kerosene oil is moving in trade parcels at Is 7£d and as much as Is 7§d has also been obtained. Cements are not so strong. We learn of best Portland havini' been offered at 21s without being responded to.
