[from our own correspondent.] " Nelson, Feb. 5. Mr Donne's no confidence motion was lost on the voices. Mr Guinnesa seconded the motion. Only the proposer and seconder voted in its favor. Some smart skirmishing took place between Messrs Donne and Shephard. The latter accused the mover of wilful misrepresentation of facts and reading garbled reports. The tone in which the resolution was introduced was grossly offensive to members of the Government. The debate occupied nearly three hours. A deputation consisting of Messrs Ivess, Corbott, Guinness and Boase interviewed the Superintendent, and brought many matters affecting the interests of the gold-fields under his consideration. They obtained a substitution of half the publicans' and other licenses issued under the Licensing Bill, in lieu of half the proceeds arising from land sales and agricultural leases, in the revenue clause of the Local Revenues Bill. The Council authorised the Government to obtain an advance of L 60,000 for the immediate construction of a coach road from Nelson to Greymouth and Westport. Mr Guinness moved and carried — That the Superintendent be requested to urge the Government to gazette regulations necessary to bring into effect "The Miners' Right Extension Act, 1872"— the orie miners' right to be available for Nelson and Westland. Mr Guinness moved that it is desirable that provision be made enabling persons to occupy waste lands for pastoral purposes, subject to re-entry for mining or other purposes. Carried. The prorogation is expected to-morrow.
