"We have received a copy of Melbourne Punch's Almanac for, 1874, which is apublk * cation which would do credit to the establishment of its. venerable progenitor in Fleet stfeet. The large double - page cartoon printed in colors is exceedingly good, both ' in design and execution, with the solitary exception of representing the New Year in j,,th6'fdrm of a; female gymnast ; although this is perhaps a satirical prediction of what the fashions may be expected to. become, A nother colored cartoon, representing the Tichborne
oaae, with a spectral counsel addressing a bgncb^bar, and jury of skeletons, is full of grim humor, ana is accompanied by a .parody oh the .."IRime of the 'Ancient Mariner," in which the history of the ghastly proceedings is metrically recorded. A clever LdKOfcnre pf a family party visiting the opera on'a ho'fcwind night, in exceedingly cool and elegant costume, shows what might be done if, personal comfort were preferred to "bragen ' ' cuitom." The young ladies depicted are young " ladies, and ' not sewing-machine girls ; and >■■ .thd same remark applies to the pretty faces which look from pages 17 ; to Edith, in " Our Colt ;" and to the little girl who is
studying .for matriculation. When we add that the illustrations are upwards of 50 in number, and that there are 16 pages of letter r .(pfess,it will be obvions'ihafc-fchere is a magnificent fixpennyworth offered to the purchasers of Punch's Almanac.

honored our Colcny with their presence. We c-TT^ave-fince learned that two others, to wit, a Mr Arthur Walters, wLo is inquired for on apeouiit of an embezzlement at Caßtlemain,q "' to.tbe amount of L2OO, and' a Mr Abraham Michael, a fraudulent insolvent, have also ' .'.', made- a 1 fiurfie'd trip to these shores, and that "' their'sarly rtturn to' Australia' is an#6u&ly
