MINING MACHINERY.

[OTAGO DAILY TIMES.] Messrs .Kincaid, M'Queen, and Co., of - the Vulcan Foundry, have lately turned but, and are still manufacturing, a considerable quantity of mining plant. The chief is that for the Shotover Terrace Gold-mining Company. There are 48 trucks (12 of which have been scot upcountry)., each 28in long, 24in wide, 18in deep, mounted on flanged wheels, and adapted to working in tunnels. They have also manufactured ingenious self- : acting machinery for the same company, by which the laden trucks are tipped, emptied, and righted; and there is an. apparatus by which the full trucks, in descending, draw up those that have been emptied. They are also constructing a large iron platform; on which the trucks are to stand ready to be filled. The new plant for the Shotover Company appearsaltogether to be one by which the mine can be economically worked. Messrs Kincaid, M'Queen, and Co. are making a turbine wheel and pump for the Arrow River Gold-mining Company. The turbine wheel, which is to be on what is known as Stirrip and Whitelaw's, or the Scotch principle, will be driven by water, which will have a fall of 60 feet. The pump is to be 12^ inches in diameter, with a working barrel of 10. feet, and the entire length of. the rods is to be fO feet. The Nugget and Cornish Company is being suppliei with three sets of stamper boxes, and also ripple tabjea and concentrator, and Messrs Kincaid, M'Queen, and Co. are. taking down and re-electing the old battery.
