There were no arrivals at the port yesterday. The departures wero the p.s Charles Edward, for Nelson • direct, with a cargo of coal; the schooner Tauranga, for Dunedin, also with a cargo of coal, towed out by the I ispatch ; and the p.s Titan, on her return trip for i okitika. Should the weather permit, the s.s. Kennedy will leave this morning for Westport. The s.s Tararua, from Aielbourne, is now due on the coast. «he will most probably ar.ive to-day, but when she will be tendered depends up»n the weather, which certainly looked anything but promising last night. The Hobart i own Mercury reports the following :- " A letter, dated 25th November, has been received by the shipping master of this p<irfc from tbe magistrate at Wynyard, notifying the fact that the schooner Dove, from Melbourne, had picked up a whaleboafc at sea, with four men on board in a famishing state. The men stated that they had deserted from the whaling brig Louisa, then lying at Port Davey. We may state that Mr Sherwin, the owner, has not received any intimation of the arrival of the Louisa at Port Davey, nor of the alleged desertion.
